Let's embrace the new year with hope

It's the time of the year again where we reflect on the past one year and embrace the coming new year with hope.. Many of us still make new year resolutions which I think is a very good practice. With our resolutions, we will be reminded through our busy lifestyles to head in the right direction in becoming what we want to be in our lives. And it is only by improving oneself to be better humans can we then improve the world around us and make it a better place to live in. It's not much so about improving our physical appearances, like being on a diet (ok it is still considered a gd resolution though.. to be able to keep urself fit in the right way), rather, we should focus more on improving our perception on life itself.

It's really disheartening to hear about news of people committing suicides or causing hurt to others because of relationships, financial problems, disputes, power.. etc. Those victims from the tsunami disasters didn't want to end their lives so soon. Some were holiday-makers, some were juz making a living.. Some led simple lives but were still happy. And yet some of us don't treasure our lives as much. We complain over small little things, complain that life is always unfair to us.. But in reality we should count our blessings. Our lives are considered very good compared to many other people around the world..

With this I would like to share with u all something meaningful and for us to ponder over:

"It is not the level of prosperity that makes for happiness but the kinship of heart to heart and the way we look at the world. Both attributes are within our power, so that a man is happy so long as he chooses to be happy, and no one can stop him."
Aleksander Solzhenitsyn

Wishing u all a happy new year in advance too.. Hope the new year will be a better one for everyone!
