Schindler's List

Watched Schindler's List last night with my family.. It's a great show, another of Steven Spielberg's inspiring film masterpiece.

It's about this German guy, Oskar Schindler, who initially wanted to start a factory and make use of cheap labour from jews in Poland during the war. But as time goes by, he realised that the jews were being executed in concentration camps and slowly being wiped out. In the end his inner self felt that he should do something to help and so instead of making money, he spent it on saving more than one thousand jews' lives by bribing the german officers.

It is a very touching show.. although there were many horrific scenes of innocent people being killed for no reason. Mostly being shot point-blank in the head! The 1000+ jews were very grateful to Schindler at the end of the war but he still felt he hasn't done enough and blamed himself for not rescuing more. He talked about if only he've sold his car and that could have saved another 10 jews, or even selling a gold brooch, and save 1 life. He cried. My mum cried. I cried. Crybabies.. I liked what the jewish accountant told Schindler:

"Whoever saves one life, saves the world entire."

Funny how we always think that money is the root of all evil, whereas sometimes it can even do wonders and saves lives. Apparently it is the human mind that is the root of all evil. And only we ourselves can make the change and see things in a different light..
